Biological and Biomimetic Materials and Mechanics (BioMnM) Lab
Welcome to Biological and Biomimetic Materials and Mechanics (BioMnM) Lab at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). The research in our lab broadly focuses on the mechanics of biological and biomimetic materials. We study the fascinating interplay between microstructure and nonlinear mechanics in biological tissues, hydrogel biomaterials, fibrous materials, and 3D-printed lattice metamaterials.
Research Interests
To characterize collagen mechanics of soft tissues in health and disease
To develop tissue-mimetic biomaterials for biomedical applications
To engineer biological entities as sustainable alternatives to synthetic materials (e.g., plastics and polymer foams)
Lab Motto
"Mechanics and Materials for ALL" (read MnM for all)
