Welcome to Biological and Biomimetic Materials and Mechanics (BioMnM) Lab at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). The research in our lab broadly focuses on the mechanics of biological and biomimetic materials. We study the fascinating interplay between structure and mechanics in biological tissues, fibrous materials, hydrogel biomaterials, and 3D-printed network-based materials.
Research Interests
To characterize collagen mechanics of soft tissues in health and disease
To develop tissue-mimetic biomaterials for biomedical applications
To engineer biological entities as sustainable alternatives to synthetic polymeric materials
To incorporate biomimetic structural motifs into engineering materials through geometric design and additive manufacturing
Lab Motto
"Mechanics and Materials for ALL" (read MnM for all)
